This latest adventure all started one Sunday in the fall of 2010. Shall we say a 'lightbulb moment'...while sitting at the table doing the Sunday paper crossword (I need lightbulb moments for those puzzles!) and took a mental break to gaze out the back door wondering how much the hillside had changed from the week before. *POP* Lightbulb. So I decided to take a picture each week that could be compared to the week before. Oh my, what a difference a week makes. Check it out for yourself, and check back frequently as there may be times when once a week just isn't enough.

To every thing there is a season... 2011 edition

 Sunday, November 27, 2011   12:30pm
 sun! but it's not warm

 Monday, November 21,  8:31am
an early morning view, yesterday snow is slowly melting away

 Sunday, November 13, 2011   10:57am
Brrrr.

Sunday, November 6, 2011    2:26pm
And it was only a few years ago we didn't get snow until Christmas or later.

 Sunday, October 30,2011   5:38pm
evening shadows come too early this time of year.

Sunday, October 23, 2011   2:00pm
ooh, FALLing leaves to rake up!

 Sunday, October 16, 2011   4:34pm
finally, some color changes (muted by cloudy & overcast sky) and just a few feet further south from the driveway...
|
is this view of colorful mountains
afternoon clouds dulled the brilliance of morning sun on autumn leaves

 Monday, October 10, 2011   10:25am
a week's worth of rain certainly helps green up last week's dry spots

 Sunday, October 2, 2011   1:57pm
 not much change

 Sunday, September 25, 2011   3:21pm
leaves higher in the mountains are red this week, but no changes down here...yet.

 Monday, September 19, 2011   10:36am
here's a Monday view since I was still in vacation mode and forgot Sunday, not that there was much difference!

 September 12, 2011    9:54am
on vacation this week and this is the view out the 'front door' of our condo on Iris Street in West Yellowstone, MT...since there was no back door.

Monday, September 5, 2011   2:06pm
 dry, dry, dry.

--oops, missed a week or deleted the picture--

Sunday, August 21, 2011   7:45pm
two weeks in a row for early evening picture session.  oh look, that garden stool is taking a rest under the tree.

Monday, August 15, 2011   8:30pm
What's that gardening stool doing on the steps?  Well, it does have 2 legs...maybe it walked?
Thunderstorms late last night dumped some good rain on the dry ground.

Sunday, August 7, 2011   11:15am
Can you see that black dot in the sky to the right of the power pole?
We've had a pair of Golden Eagles spending the summer here, one is perched on the power pole, the other is flying.
We do have hawks that frequent this area - the eagles are soooo much larger!
(zoomed view below)
Here's the eagle on the power pole.  I need a camera with a better zoom!

Sunday, July 31, 2011    12:34pm
Last day of July, but not the last day of dried out grasses.

Sunday, July 24, 2011    3:20pm
it's July, it's hot, it's when my lush green Kentucky Bluegrass dries out

Sunday, July 17, 2011   1:31pm
there should be a law that when the lawn mower is in shop for repairs...grass cannot continue to grow.

 July 10, 2011
[ ]
really, there's a picture somewhere...on the misplaced camera card!

Sunday, July 3, 2011   3:53pm
a nice (?!!) dry hillside during fireworks season.

 Tuesday, June 28, 2011   10:48am
with summer heat finally here all that tall weedy 'cheat grass' is drying out; first a red color, then yellow.

Sunday, June 19, 2011   3:46pm
rained all morning, this is just after a huge thunderstorm dumped a ton of precip laying down all the June grass on the hill.

 Sunday, June 12, 2011   5:30pm
good family members cut down the Burdock (tall, spiky weeds) on Memorial Day

 oops...missed a week!

MEMORIAL DAY, Monday, May 30, 2011  10:08am
SNOW!! no foolin'!  our Memorial Day surprise.  it's still the Spring of 2011 so perhaps we should expect nothing less.

Sunday, May 29, 2011   6:45pm
it's the spring of 2011...nothing new, just another rainy day

Tuesday, May 24, 2011   10:30am
that grass just keeps growing, and growing, and growing as it continues to rain, and rain, and rain.

today, the birds at the top of the hill made their presence known.
wish there was more movie time but my film card filled up after only 10 seconds.  I think you'll get the idea.

Sunday, May 15, 2011   4:10pm
NO RAIN!!  however all the growing green stuff is from all that recent rain.

today, the wind was blowing and the growing June grass as it swales in the wind is fscinating to watch.
it's easier to see in person and when that grass is taller but thought I'd try and see if movie mode did it justice.
nope; but I'll post it anyway.  oh, the cat meowing?  it's Tony, the neighbor's cat; I call him Mr.T

 Sunday, May 8, 2011    5:32pm
it's raining, plenty of 'green' on the hill and the rain will make it even greener, or taller.

 Sunday, May 1, 2011    4:30pm
 here come the weeds!

Sunday, April 24, 2011   5:10pm
do daffodils mean Spring is finally here?  are you asking "what daffodils?"
they're on the right side of the picture
maybe the closeup below will help...

Sunday, April 17, 2011   5:42pm
at least the grasses are starting to green up.

 Friday, April 8, 2011   4:17pm
no, those white spots aren't camera problems, finally snow flakes large enough to see.
spring snow storms all week.

Sunday, April 3, 2011   1:18pm
3 hours earlier there was snow covering all the grass.
3 hours after this picture a quick blizzard covered it up again.

Sunday, March 27, 2011  12:02pm
a fast-blast snow storm blew by last night.

Tuesday, March 22, 2011   10:20am
although Spring officially arrived on Sunday, the regular picture got missed
but two days later it looks like winter is still here

Sunday, March 13, 2011     12:40 pm
last Tuesday's snow?  all gone!

Tuesday, March 8, 2011      9:30am
big, wet, heavy snow last night turned the backyard into a winter wonderland this morning.
see the deer tracks just above the steps?  here's what I found when I went to investigate...

not only the deer tracks but large 'divets' in the snow. looked like quite a party!  are these the deer version of "snow angels"?
it was still snowing just a few hours earlier, and since these tracks were really fresh, with the snow cleared down to the grass, if I'd only looked out a bit earlier I might have seen Bambi and friends frolicking --or whatever-- in the snow.  yup, a motion-activated camera would be nice.

Sunday, March 6, 2011    3:45pm
it's raining.

Sunday, February 27, 2011    4:01pm
it must be spring!  Friday night & Saturday snow didn't stick to sidewalks or driveways...and is quickly melting off ground.
gorgeous sunny and blue sky day but temperature is in low 30's.

Monday, February 21, 2011    2:39pm
had to work yesterday and left in the morning during worst of snowstorm.  a day later it's melted down by 1/2, here's the result.

Sunday, February 13, 2011    4:01pm
BLUE SKIES!!!!  SUN!!!  SHADOWS!!  yippee!
a bit battered, the plastic bag is still in the tree

Sunday, February 6, 2011      3:30pm
no snow. it's been really C*O*L*D* lately and today gray, cloudy skies...again

Sunday, February 6, 2011   *BONUS*
a few days ago we had East Winds that not only scattered patio stuff around the back yard that wasn't nailed down but --shifting the normal view slightly to the right-- also braided a plastic grocery bag into the top of a tree just beyond the grass.  can you see it?

Sunday, January 30, 2011    3:09pm
fog has lifted and low clouds remain.

Sunday, January 23, 2011     5:17pm

finally, a gorgeous blue-sky Sunday--
however, an afternoon visit by relatives distracted me and delayed picture-taking until just as sunset turned the hillside gold (good timing!)

Sunday, January 16, 2011    4:35pm
it's raining.

Sunday, January 9, 2011    3:13pm
it snowed last night, the sparkly kind that glittered this morning. now a short, and welcomed, moment of sunshine.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
Sunday, January 2, 2011    4:15pm
a brief moment of sun, through cloudy skies, highlighted the deer trails
